The IT Department supports all faculty and staff computers, printers, copiers, and phones. These systems are essential to the educational and service missions of Southern Virginia University, and are our first priority. Services for faculty and staff members include email setup, voicemail, software installation, hardware replacement, file recovery, and toner replacement.
If you are experiencing problems with your computer, printer or phone let us know by submitting an IT Ticket and we will do everything we can to resolve the issue.
While supporting the day to day operations of the university is our first priority, we also offer support services for staff, faculty and student personal machines.*
These services include:
- Virus Detection, Removal, and Anti-virus Installation
- Malware Detection and Removal
- Computer Consultation
- Software recommendations and installation
- Hardware diagnosis, recommendations, and replacement
All simple repairs are free of charge. If it will take a significant amount of time to fix your computer we do charge a modest price. However, if we get to that point, we will give you an estimate for the work and wait for your approval before proceeding.
We do charge a nominal fee for reinstalling windows and/or backing up data from your hard drive. However, it is still much lower than what you will pay for comparable services elsewhere, and we charge the following flat rates due to the time involved.
Operating System Reinstall: $20
Data Backup and Recovery: $20
